Hey everyone!
Sorry for not posting more frequently! I do want to keep ya'll updated, so here's what we've been up to:
- Newbies: We have about 11 "official" newcomers this year (1 pomona, 2 HMC, 3 PZR, 5 SCR, none from CMC...) and I think 8 pretty dedicated ones. :)
- Events: So far, we've have 2 curry nights (one for returnees, and one with newcomers), 1 joint practice with UCR, 1 "DDR party" (not officially, just something we did after a practice).
- Songs: We're almost done reviewing our songs. We haven't gone over Matsuri Remix (which mostly everyone should know) or Miyake (which none of us really know). The newcomers learned Renshuu, Matsuri, the "Tanoshii" drill, and are now learning Kaeru. Two of them performed with us at one performance so far (the Sanso Exhibit at the Scripps Gallery).
- GIGS: We performed at 4-- 1) J-dinner, 2) Scripps Gallery Sanso Exhibit, 3) I-Banquet 4) Off-campus GIG @ the Claremont Club Karate Class' Kick-a-thon... and 5) a small class performance of Aojishi (Adenike, Emily, and me).
- Next semester, we have planned our "Taiko in the Woods" retreat at Halona, 2 GIGS (1 off-campus at the Claremont Club's Karate Awards Banquet, the other a $700-paying Avery Gig for the Pacific Basin Institute), and more joint practices (possibly one with USC)! We'll also have our usual gigs...
- Financial updates:
For our shime only:
- $250/350 (from CAPAS, Ad Board, AARC, and possibly the Gold Student Center).
For anything? (hopefully):
- $950/1000 (from Pacific Basin Institute, ASPC, AAMP, and possibly Scripps FAC).
- Our ASCMC account is cleared (reimbursements for scrubs, website hosting, and Home Depot trips).
OH RIGHT. So the stolen shime was never returned/found... but I *secretly* bought a new rope one off eBay for $430 (this is what we've been playing on). :O Once we buy our second shime... we'll have two! O_O Yay!!

Hey, about Miyake, these guys are only doing the basic pattern and their form is a little different from the way I taught you, but you could still use this as a good drill, at least.
